Nutritional Biomarkers Assessment

Nutrition plays an important role in your health and you have a functional need for antioxidants, B-vitamins, minerals, digestive support, fatty acids, and amino acids. Nutritional deficiencies or imbalances can contribute to disease development, or are an unwanted consequence of the disease process.

Metabolomix+ is a comprehensive nutritional panel to analyze over 125 nutritional biomarkers, including organic acids, amino acids, and oxidative stress markers. Additional markers are available for an even greater overview of your nutritional status with easy to add profiles based on a your unique needs. The optional fatty acid component can be exceptionally beneficial if you are looking to decrease inflammation, support brain/nerve function, and reduce cardiovascular risk. Testing can also reveal toxic exposures and measure your body’s ability to neutralize those toxins.

What to Expect

All samples can be collected completely in the comfort of your own home. It requires a urine sample and, if add-on testing is ordered, a bloodspot finger stick and/or cheek swab.

Limit fluid intake to 48 ounces 24 hours before sample collection. You will need to fast for eight hours and do a single first morning void (FMV) urine collection.

You will send your samples to the lab within 24 hours of collection using the prepaid FedEx materials provided. Results can take approximately two weeks to receive.

Once I receive your results from the lab, I will reach out to you to schedule an appointment. You can make this appointment at your convenience in the patient portal.

During your appointment, we will go over your results, and address any identified nutrient recommendations for key vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fatty acids, and digestive support. Additionally, we will target therapy around any identified needs for methylation support, toxic exposures, mitochondrial dysfunction, fatty acid imbalances, and oxidative stress.

Cost

The cost of the Metabolomix+ starts at $320. Optional add-on profiles are available for an additional cost. The lab cost is a separate cost outside of your Discovery Session fee.

Marked accumulation of organic acids measured in urine can signal a metabolic inhibition or block. The metabolic block may be due to a nutrient deficiency, an inherited enzyme deficit, toxic build-up, or drug effect.

Enzymes that are responsible for metabolizing organic acids are vitamin and mineral dependent. With this, elevations in organic acids can reflect a functional need for these nutrients on a cellular and biochemical level, even despite normal serum levels.
