Your Path to Root-Cause Health Begins Here

As an IFM Certified Practitioner in Albany, Georgia, I provide personalized, whole-person care focused on understanding why symptoms are happening — not just managing them.

If you are dealing with fatigue, hormone changes, gut issues, mood concerns, inflammation, metabolic concerns, or symptoms that have not improved with conventional care, there is usually more to the story. My goal is to look at the full picture and help determine the most appropriate next step.

I offer in-person appointments in Albany and telehealth appointments for patients across Georgia. All new patients start with a Discovery Session.

Meet Will Koopal

Welcome, I’m Will Koopal, a certified Physician Assistant, Functional Medicine Practitioner and Diplomate of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine serving patients across Georgia.

My passion lies in solving complex health puzzles with a personalized, whole-person approach. Rather than looking at symptoms in isolation, I focus on the connections between the body, mind and spirit to better understand why symptoms are happening and what your body needs to restore balance.

New Here?

All new patients begin with a Discovery Session. This comprehensive first appointment allows me to better understand your symptoms, health history, lifestyle, previous labs and goals before recommending a care path.

What to Expect:

1. Begin With a Discovery Session
This is the starting point for all new patients.

2. Share Your Full Health Story
We’ll review your symptoms, history, lifestyle, stressors, labs and goals to better understand what may be contributing to your current health concerns.

3. Determine the Right Next Step
Your next step may include functional medicine care, functional psychiatry, hormone support, functional testing, lifestyle strategies or another personalized care path.

Areas of Care

Many patients come to functional medicine because they are looking for answers to lingering symptoms, complex health concerns or patterns that have not fully improved with conventional care.

At Will Koopal Functional Medicine, symptoms are not viewed in isolation. Fatigue, brain fog, hormone changes, digestive issues, mood concerns, inflammation and weight changes can all be connected. The goal is to understand what may be driving the problem and determine the most appropriate next step for your care.

Why Functional Medicine Works

Functional medicine is a systems biology-based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause — the “why is this happening?”

Rather than asking only, “What disease?” or “What drug?” I ask, “Why?” You can treat symptoms for years and see little to no improvement. Real healing begins by uncovering the underlying factors that are contributing to the problem.

  • Functional medicine takes into account the uniqueness of each individual. This human-centered approach considers your health history, lifestyle, environment, genetics, stressors and goals.

  • Rather than simply treating symptoms, functional medicine aims to identify and address the underlying causes of illness. This approach may help support chronic and complex health concerns more effectively than focusing on symptoms alone.

  • By focusing on the factors that influence long-term health, functional medicine works to support prevention, resilience and healthier aging.

  • Functional medicine integrates traditional medical knowledge with lifestyle, nutrition, stress management, functional testing and other personalized strategies when appropriate.

  • By looking at the whole person, functional medicine can help support greater balance, energy, resilience and long-term wellness.
